Peter is a securities and corporate lawyer helping small, medium, and large-sized business clients that have local, Canadian, and multi-national operations. Peter is business-minded, goal-oriented and efficiency-focused, so as not to “over-lawyer” transactions. He is flexible and coaches clients on how to approach legal matters to reduce legal fees. Peter works with clients listed on both the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchange with issues that range from small capital expenditures to multi-billion-dollar merger transactions. Whether it’s supported with financing and funding, day-to-day legal issues encountered in a commercial enterprise, Peter excels at providing the strategic counsel and pragmatic advice that clients need as they grow their business.
Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, who are all involved in sports. He is an avid downhill skier and loves to play golf, mostly in BC. Every March, he lives every golfer’s dream and travels with a group of enthusiasts to walk in the footsteps of the greats by playing courses like Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach (California).
Peter is an integral part of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group, bringing many years of experience working with oil and gas exploration and production companies as well as oilfield services companies. He also works with several clients in the emerging technology sector and has recently started working for clients involved in the cannabis and cryptocurrency businesses as well as real estate development. In addition, over the past few years, Peter has been involved in three different proxy battles, helping his clients win each time.
Peter’s practice includes the following areas of focus:
- Business law, including incorporations
- Corporate transactions
- Corporate financing, including both debt and equity capital
- Energy law, both on the production side and with oilfield services
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Share and asset transactions
“My approach is to focus on getting the deal done – without throwing up a bunch of issues and roadblocks that make things difficult for my clients.”
